Overview

GovernmentCIO is seeking a candidate for the position of Technical Writer to support the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) account. This technical writer will be responsible for developing government customer facing content like white papers, case studies, and proposal content. This includes original prose, conceptualizing graphical representations of data, systems, solutions and the development of resumes or past performance write-ups. The candidate will also assist in the development of strategies to obtain, organize, and summarize information through clear, concise and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Learning and understanding the key offerings of GCIO and how they are applicable to our government customer
  • Analyzing RFP documents in order to contribute to strategy as well as content
  • Work in partnership with the HHS Leadership team to ensure corporate and market branding and style guidelines are maintained
  • Working with GCIO and partners to produce quality, on-time proposal responses
  • Develop and maintain templates, standard operating procedures (SOPs), tools, and resources, leveraging best practices for team communications and coordination across multiple ongoing opportunities
  • Draft technical explanations of solutions from diagrams and/or in summary of meetings, often with short turnaround times
  • Ensuring that existing customer pain points and proposal win themes are clearly reflected in documents
  • Collaborating with colleagues and proactively using existing tools to source data required for proposal responses
  • Maintaining and leveraging reusable content for responses
  • Create technical documentation as required in support of proposal or project needs, including system design documents and draft diagrams
  • Make documentation compliant with a given set of directions
  • Conduct gap analysis to determine strengths of current approaches and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Possess strong analytical skills required to proactively research information and begin compiling initial responses to federal solicitations
  • Ensuring that current messaging and writing style is strongly reflected in proposal narratives
  • Leverage knowledge and experience to improve upon each opportunity within the capture and proposal lifecycle
  • Attending proposal meetings, providing regular status updates to management

Qualifications

  • BA/BSc/BEng Degree (preferred in Journalism, English, Communications)
  • 3+ years experience with writing entire proposals, inputting edits after reviews are completed, completing required forms, printing and binding final versions of proposals and shipping or electronic proposal submission
  • Exceptional writing abilities;
  • Ability to think critically and draw from several resources to create simple, unified and persuasive documents;
  • Strong organization skills, attention for detail, ral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with federal capture and/or proposal development
  • Experience within a Health IT environment is preferred
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work individually as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to adapt and learn in a fast-moving environment;
  • Expert in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently and conduct research with minimal guidance and supervision, managing time and priorities in alignment with account strategy
