The National Immigration Law Center (NILC) has an immediate opening for a Social Media Manager to join its Communications Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and tech-savvy associate with a passion for social change and creativity to help our organization increase awareness of our brand identity, grow our online community, and encourage involvement in our state, local, and national initiatives.

The Social Media Manager will work closely with staff across the Communications Department and report directly to the Associate Director of Communications for Digital and Publications. The position is based remotely, or in NILC’s Los Angeles or Washington, DC, office.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement and manage NILC’s social media strategy to amplify NILC’s organizational goals and campaigns
    • Draft and maintain content on NILC’s social networks
    • Manage and oversee social media content analytics, measure success and adjust strategies as needed
    • Stay up-to-date on the latest social media best practices and technologies
    • Maintain related web pages in coordination with the communications, policy, and legal teams, and internal stakeholders
    • Use a content management system to apply updates to website content, layouts, page templates, and image assets
    • Conduct quality assurance testing on web and digital products
    • Provide general support to the NILC Digital Team, as needed
    • Manage implementation, maintenance, and improvement of web analytics and tagging methodologies, primarily within Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager platforms


    • Excellent writer, able to distill talking points into bite size content for major social media platforms
    • Creative problem solver, able to generate fresh ideas to overcome obstacles
    • Proficient in digital management systems, such as Hootsuite, Tweetdeck, WordPress, EveryAction, with willingness and skill to learn new platforms, as needed
    • Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines simultaneously
    • Graphic production skills desirable
    • Detail-oriented, with experience in content quality assurance (QA), proofreading, and functional testing.
    • Some college/trade school, an associate degree, or equivalent work experience
    • Two to three years of related experience in social media management, web/digital content production, or design

The expected salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $70,000 depending on experience.
