What we do
It’s an exciting time to join our expanding Marketing team. We have ambitious plans in place for 2020 and need to recruit Social Media Manager to engage with our community.
Our aim is to grow our brand profile on a global scale, retain and strengthen our position as an industry leader, and help our users design better products with Sketch.
Marketing is made up of the following teams:
– Copy and content; who educate and inform our users at every stage of their journey.
– Community and events; who put Sketch at the heart of major design conferences and local meetups.
– Web and digital; who grow and shape our web and digital presence.
What we’re looking for
Our online community is vast, engaged, and active, and you’ll be at the heart of it. You’ll not only respond, but guide conversations and start new ones. If you’re the kind of person who thrives on good conversation and interacting with online communities, we want to hear from you.
You should be a creative and curious self-starter, with a love for design and a deep knowledge of the community and culture surrounding it.
You will need to understand what goes into marketing, community management and customer support, as you’ll work closely with all three teams.
You’ll need to be a confident content creator—gif making skills are required—and you should be able to write in a nuanced and engaging way, and be able to adapt your writing for specific contexts and audiences.
Our team works remotely and communicates mostly in writing, so you will need to have an excellent grasp written English, great communication skills and be comfortable working in a remote position.
What you’ll do
As Social Media Manager, you’ll take full ownership and responsibility of our social channels as a primary channel to reach and engage our users and external audiences.
As part of you role you’ll develop our social strategy, start positive and engaging conversations around Sketch, and triage support and customer service requests to the right teams in a timely manner — while making sure measurement and reporting is a part of everything you do.
These new roles within Marketing sit within the Content and Copy Team, but you’ll be working proactively with other teams within Sketch to build our presence and provide the best experience to customers.

On a typical day, you will be:

    • Monitoring and managing all of our channels — making sure that we are an active and regular voice amongst our community of users and external audiences.
    • Developing the managing our content calendar — executing our short term plans and planning against our long term vision.
    • Developing and executing owned and paid social media campaigns that support our marketing goals.
    • Creating, curating and managing content across all of our social media channels.
    • Creating copy, images and videos with assistance from our designers and copywriters.
    • Listening and responding to customers in an engaging and “social” way that encourages brand loyalty and advocacy.
    • Weekly social reporting, including sentiment tracking.
    • Working with the Customer Support team and guiding customers to the correct support channels where necessary.
    • Working with the Community team to help engage and grow the existing Sketch community.
    • Working with the Customer Success team identify leads and opportunities and help connect potential customers for additional help.
    • Being a go-to person for Sketch’s brand voice and supporting internal teams with communicating important messaging across our social channels.


    • 4+ years in social media-related roles, working with Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
    • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
    • A content creation skillset that covers copy and design
    • An ability to analyse data and adapt your approach based on your findings
    • A customer-focused mindset and the ability to empathize
    • Able to work and communicate as part of a remote, but close-knit team
    • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with lots of other talented people
    • Able to adapt quickly to a new brand voice (and help shape it)
    • Able to prepare social media reporting with a high level of accuracy
    • Experienced at running paid and owned social campaigns using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
    • Able to understand Google Analytics and use it to track campaigns
    • Located in a timezone within the Americas, preferably around the Eastern Time Zone (EDT).

Bonus points

    • Experience working as a designer
    • A good knowledge of Sketch, both the product and the brand
    • Video editing and/or animation skills
    • A working knowledge of web-based tools like Mailchimp and Notion
